Tu Scene Launch Party
Friday, December 12, 7-9pm
Dinnerware Artspace
264 E. Congress, Tucson
Wow, this little project is really taking off. This is the first time I’ve done anything that’s “all me” and outside of writing posts, I’m finding it’s hard to stay on task on my own. My to-do list is THIS long. As I told some other artists last night, Tu Scene has only been around for a few weeks and is still kind of a primordial mush. Right now I’m just seeing what it becomes on its own, as dictated by the needs and what I hear in the community. I don’t have any ultimate goals for the site except to promote communication and sharing of information between artists, but a I am working on some kind of media sponsorship package, and would eventually like to add another content administrator or two. But that’s about it. I recently met David Aguirre of Dinnerware Artspace, a transplant from San Antonio with a demeanor not unlike that of my dear friend/mentor Harold McMillan, and he’s been gracious enough to provide a wine and cheese reception for the launch of Tu Scene. So come out, meet yours truly, and talk about your hopes, dreams and fears for the Tucson art community as a continuation of the Emerging Leaders Creative Conversation that took place a couple of months ago, and let’s figure out how to help each other. Plus, many other galleries will be open on Friday, December 12, including Central Arts Gallery, PLAY and others, so make a night of it!
